Etsy and NASA Space Craft contest finalist!
We are so excited to announce that we are finalists in the NASA & Etsy space craft contest! Our Northstar table has made it to the final round. This is particularly special for me - a little back story...
The table was inspired by my grandfather who worked for Grumman. The inlay on the top of the table represents the stars' alignment on the night of the first moon landing. Grumman built the Apollo Lunar Module (LM) which was the lander portion of the Apollo spacecraft built for NASA's first mission to the moon. I grew up listening to my grandfather tell stories of working on this amazing project, the super high tech materials and the excitement of helping put the first people on the moon. To most in 1969 this mission must have seemed impossible and riddled with danger, but my grandfather said there wasn't a doubt in the minds of his crew that the LM would make it to the surface of the moon and back safely. They had expertly crafted and inspected every inch of the module.
Some Grumman employees (my grandfather included) were asked to sign a memorial poster which was photographed, and the film was taken into space. So my grandfathers John Hancock has gone into outer space - it would be beyond amazing if an image of our table got to go too!
As my friend Marta said "fingers and toes crossed"!
